Shahbaz Sharif: Dialogue with India Possible only on Basis of Equality

DID Press: Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif, speaking to the Pakistani diaspora in London, reiterated the key to regional peace lies in resolving Kashmir issue, and that Islamabad is ready to engage with New Delhi only on the basis of equality.

Sharif said that Pakistan is prepared to discuss critical matters with India, including Kashmir, terrorism, water resources, and trade, but stressed that such dialogue must “adhere to the principle of equality” and respect the mutual interests of both countries.

He emphasized that without a fair and final resolution of the Kashmir issue, no meaningful progress in bilateral relations is possible. “Kashmir is not just a bilateral issue; it is the key to regional peace and stability,” he said.

Sharif also addressed ongoing crisis in Gaza, calling for “immediate, effective, and coordinated action” of Muslim world to halt attacks and support the oppressed Palestinian people.

“Unity among Islamic countries against oppression, particularly in Palestine, is more necessary now than ever,” he added.
