Dogharoon: Eastern Trade Highway on Path to Development and Investment
DID Press: Governor of Taybad district stressed the strategic importance of Dogharoon border, calling it a vital trade artery between Iran and Afghanistan. He urged the development of infrastructure to attract investors to free trade zone at this border crossing.

Hossein Jamshidi, the governor of Taybad, underlined the strategic role of this gateway, saying: “Dogharoon is not only the main export route from Razavi Khorasan province to Afghanistan, but with over a thousand trucks crossing daily, it plays a key role in the economic growth of eastern Iran.”
“The geopolitical position, skilled workforce, and access to regional markets make Taybad a prime candidate to become an economic hub for the country,” he added, referring to Taybad’s untapped potential.
Jamshidi described Dogharoon Free Trade Zone as a “golden opportunity” for transforming the economy of Razavi Khorasan and said: “Providing necessary infrastructure, legal support, and streamlining administrative procedures can pave the way for strong domestic and foreign investment in the region.”
Presenting performance statistics from Dogharoon Customs Office for the first half of the current year, the governor noted: “More than 471,000 tons of goods have been exported to Afghanistan through this border—a 30% increase compared to the same period last year. Around 60% of the province’s total exports pass through this route.”
He also highlighted the human traffic across the border, saying: “Over 4,000 individuals—including drivers, passengers, and administrative staff—cross Dogharoon border daily, and more than one million people legally pass through this crossing each year.”
