Pakistan Commits to Completing Trade Corridors via Afghanistan, Iran, China

DID Press: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to completing trade corridors through Iran, Afghanistan, and China during a meeting with the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) regional director.

The ADB official described Pakistan as a priority for the bank and announced plans to expand investments, particularly in transport and communications. He also invited Khan to attend a conference in Bishkek scheduled for November.

Khan underlined the importance of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program, stressing the need for direct flights, upgraded railways, and new road projects to boost regional trade and tourism.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s progress on visa facilitation, noting that multiple-entry business visas are now issued within 24 hours. Khan suggested that CAREC member states could adopt measures similar to SAARC by easing visa issuance and strengthening regional cooperation.
