Kabul Seeking Stronger US Ties through Prisoner Releases

DID Press: Zakir Jalali, Deputy Political Minister of the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry, said that high-level meetings and progress on the issue of prisoner releases between Kabul and Washington could pave the way for broader cooperation in various fields.

The release of prisoners within the framework of bilateral relations with the United States could serve as a prelude to expanding cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests, Jalali said.

“The key point,” he emphasized, “is that both sides have come to a mutual understanding and are willing to resolve the prisoner issue appropriately while continuing talks in other areas.”

Jalali added that high-level meetings between Kabul and Washington could help build trust and open the door to wider political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation.
