Venezuela Calls Urgent UNSC Meeting, Puts Military on Alert

DID Press: Venezuela has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, citing what it described as the growing threat of a possible U.S. military attack, according to official statements released on Friday.

Government sources in Caracas said recent actions and decisions by Washington indicate rising tensions and an increased risk of confrontation between the two countries.

The United States has recently taken steps that observers say bring it closer to a direct conflict with Venezuela.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has ordered the armed forces to remain on full alert against any “potential and imminent” aggression by the United States.
