Trump Pulls Back on Supplying Tomahawk Missiles to Ukraine

DID Press: US media outlet Axios has reported growing tensions during a two-hour meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. Trump reportedly rejected Kyiv’s request for Tomahawk long-range missiles, emphasizing that diplomacy must take priority over further escalation.

According to Axios, during the meeting, President Trump warned his Ukrainian counterpart that “now is the time for peace with Russia,” adding that the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv could “undermine efforts to end the war.”

Sources familiar with the discussion said the meeting was marked by tension and diverging positions. Zelensky reportedly pressed for advanced U.S. missiles to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses, but Trump firmly opposed the request, saying that his administration was “pursuing a diplomatic solution, not a deeper confrontation.”

Following the meeting, several European leaders who later spoke with Zelensky were reportedly surprised by Washington’s apparent policy shift on the Ukraine conflict, Axios noted.

Trump’s decision comes as his 20-point peace plan enters its initial implementation phase, focusing on halting heavy military assistance and initiating direct negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.
