DID Press: Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, said Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent visit to the occupied Palestinian territories was a futile attempt to lift the morale of “desperate” Israeli officials.
Speaking during a meeting with sports champions and international Olympiad medalists, Khamenei criticized Trump’s statements in Israel as “a handful of empty words and theatrical gestures” aimed at encouraging the Israeli regime.
“My assessment of this visit is that they are desperate,” Khamenei said, referring to Israel’s recent setbacks in the 12-day conflict. “This trip was intended to lift them out of despair; the words he spoke were meant to console hopeless officials.”
