Saudi Arabia Unveils “NEOM Stadium,” World’s First Sky Arena

DID Press: Saudi Arabia has unveiled plans for the world’s first “sky stadium” — a futuristic, suspended sports venue that will rise 350 meters above ground in the kingdom’s megacity project, NEOM. Officials say the facility, named NEOM Stadium, will be completed by 2032 and is expected to host part of the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

According to Saudi media, the project forms part of the Vision 2030 development plan and aims to merge advanced technology, sustainable architecture, and sports tourism.

Designed to seat 46,000 spectators, the stadium will be fully powered by renewable energy sources. Project engineers describe the structure as a “floating arena” that redefines architectural innovation and environmental responsibility in the 21st century.

Authorities project that NEOM Stadium will be ready for operation by 2032 and will serve as a key venue for the 2034 World Cup, which Saudi Arabia is set to host.

Analysts say the ambitious project underscores Saudi Arabia’s determination to position itself as a global hub for sports, innovation, and high-tech construction, reflecting the broader goals of Vision 2030 to diversify the national economy beyond oil.
