US Contacted Taliban During Pakistan Border Clashes

DID Press: US contacted Taliban government during last week’s border clashes with Pakistan, offering proposals for a ceasefire, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said Tuesday.

Mujahid emphasized that although US officials reached out, the main mediation role was played by Qatar and other regional countries, particularly Turkey. He said clashes, which lasted about a week, did not escalate to a level requiring intervention from major global powers.

The fighting caused casualties and damage on both sides and raised concerns over increasing tensions along the border.

A ceasefire agreement was reached on October 19 in Doha, halting military operations, easing border tensions, and opening political dialogue between the Taliban government and Pakistan.

Mujahid praised the diplomatic efforts of regional actors, highlighting their role in preventing further escalation and restoring calm along the contested frontier.
