12 Militants Killed in 3-Day Pakistani Army Operations

DID Press: At least 12 militants have been killed in a fresh wave of counterterrorism operations by the Pakistani army across Bajaur, Hangu, and North Waziristan over the past three days.

According to the Daily Dawn, coordinated operations by the army and security forces from Friday night to Saturday targeted armed insurgents in these regions.

In North Waziristan, three militants were killed in combined air and ground strikes on a hideout, and a vehicle carrying explosives was destroyed before detonation. Officials said the operation focused on members of a group referred to as the “Khawarij affiliated with India’s sedition.”

In Bajaur, heavy clashes between security forces and militants over two days resulted in five insurgents killed and several others injured. Local sources said militants were using a mosque as a shelter.

In Hangu, following a roadside bomb attack that killed senior police officer Asad Zubair and two of his guards, security forces launched an operation in which four more militants were killed and a police officer was injured.

The Pakistani army stressed that the ongoing clearance operations aim to eliminate terrorist elements and will continue until full security is restored in the border regions.
