Taliban Governor of Balkh Visits Uzbekistan for Border and Trade Talks

DID Press: Mohammad Yousuf Wafa, the Taliban-appointed governor of Balkh province, has traveled to Uzbekistan with a high-level delegation to discuss border, trade, and transit issues.

Accompanied by senior officials and heads of government departments, Wafa’s visit follows a recent trip to Tajikistan and aims to strengthen regional cooperation.

During the visit, officials from both countries are expected to hold talks on cross-border collaboration and the development of trade and transit relations.

Earlier, Wafa had met with Uzbek officials, including the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and representatives from the ministries of Water and Livestock, to discuss bilateral cooperation.

This diplomatic mission comes amid increased border activities by Pakistan and reflects the Taliban government’s efforts to enhance regional relations and manage cross-border matters. The visit is part of the caretaker administration’s broader strategy to improve ties with neighboring countries and expand economic and transit cooperation in the region.
