Zaeef: Pakistan Needs Skilled Negotiators for Talks with Afghanistan
DID Press: Former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan Abdul Salam Zaeef emphasized that for negotiations with Afghanistan to succeed, Pakistan must select experienced and capable negotiators and act based on a clear understanding of its challenges.

In an interview, Zaeef said that if Pakistan views dialogue and understanding as the solution to its issues with Afghanistan, two key points must be considered.
First, Pakistan must appoint individuals with experience and expertise to lead negotiations. “Negotiating with Afghanistan requires a deep understanding of the existing issues and challenges, which can only be achieved with the participation of seasoned and skilled individuals,” he added.
Zaeef also stressed that Pakistan should be prepared to act based on an accurate comprehension of the depth of its problems with Afghanistan.
“Without a proper understanding of the challenges, any negotiation efforts will fail and may even escalate tensions,” he warned.
Some Afghan officials have similarly highlighted the importance of diplomacy and constructive dialogue, calling for closer cooperation with neighboring countries.
