DID Press: Al-Mersad, a media outlet affiliated with the Taliban intelligence, reported that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and military are training ISIS members and transferring them into Afghanistan territory.

According to Al-Mersad, based on confessions from detained ISIS members, the group’s operatives receive training and oversight on Pakistani soil under the direct supervision of the ISI and military before being deployed to Afghanistan.
According to the report, after the collapse of former republic establishment, many ISIS bases in Afghanistan were destroyed and the group largely weakened. However, recent scattered attacks indicate that the source of ISIS activity is now outside Afghanistan’s borders.
Al-Mersad added that recent interrogations of detainees show Pakistan plays a central role in transferring and supporting ISIS forces and uses the group as a tool for political pressure on Kabul and to create instability in Afghanistan.
The outlet further claimed that Pakistan has effectively rejected the Islamic Emirate’s official requests to halt financial and military support for ISIS, demonstrating an active role in Afghanistan’s instability and regional insecurity.
The report also highlights the deaths of key ISIS figures in Pakistan as evidence of direct links, including “Nosrat” aka “Abuzar,” one of the main planners of the 2022–2023 attacks in Kabul, who was killed in Peshawar.
This report comes amid rising tensions between Kabul and Islamabad over border attacks and allegations of Pakistan supporting Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In contrast, Pakistani officials have denied any links to ISIS, saying Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism and is actively fighting all extremist groups.
