UN SG Warns of “Repeated” Ceasefire Violations in Gaza

DID Press: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday, November 4, expressed deep concern over ongoing violations of the ceasefire in Gaza Strip and called on all parties to adhere strictly to the peace agreement.

“I am deeply worried about the continued breaches of the ceasefire in Gaza,” Guterres said. “These actions must stop, and all parties must comply with the provisions of the initial phase of the peace agreement.”

According to the Palestinian government’s press office in Gaza, the Israeli military has reportedly committed 194 violations of the ceasefire since it came into effect on October 10.

Ismail Al-Thawabteh, director of the Gaza press office, told media outlets that violations include military incursions beyond the so-called “yellow line,” restrictions on the delivery of medicines, medical equipment, tents, and mobile homes, as well as shootings, shelling, and the destruction of civilian homes.

“The Israeli forces have repeatedly crossed the yellow line, entering residential areas and conducting airstrikes that have caused civilian casualties,” Al-Thawabteh said. He warned that civilians should avoid these areas as they may be targeted without warning, citing previous incidents in which residents were killed while checking their homes near the line.

The yellow line is a designated zone established under the ceasefire agreement, dividing the Gaza Strip from southern Gaza City to the north of Khan Yunis.

Palestinian officials also reported that Israel has not allowed full access for humanitarian convoys and has not opened the Rafah crossing with Egypt for transferring patients out of Gaza.
