Iran Launches Work Visa Registration for Foreign Labor

DID Press: Iran’s Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare has opened registration for a “worker visa” program aimed at addressing labor shortages in certain professions and organizing employment for foreign workers.

The General Directorate for Foreign Employment under the ministry announced that individual and corporate employers can officially and transparently hire the foreign workforce they need through this program.

According to the issued guidelines, employers must first register the vacant position on the Ministry of Labor’s job search platform at Kar.gov.ir to confirm the unavailability of Iranian workers for that role. Next, the registration and application for the “worker visa” is completed through the Comprehensive Foreign Employment System at eatba.mcls.gov.ir, along with uploading required documents, including the official employer’s declaration.

Key requirements for registration include the applicant residing in Afghanistan, holding a valid passport, and providing a 12-digit unique identification code. Foreign nationals with a criminal record or previous border violations are not eligible to apply.

According to officials, Afghan nationals who have voluntarily returned to their home country are given priority in the application process.

The Ministry emphasized that this program, while facilitating the legal recruitment of foreign labor, will also support more accurate data collection, assist employers, and help prevent illegal employment of foreign nationals.
