Senator Warren Accuses Trump Administration of Trade Discrimination

DID Press: Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren accused the Trump administration of “blatant discrimination in tariff policies,” criticizing a new trade agreement between the United States and Switzerland.

On November 15, Warren posted an image on X showing U.S. President Donald Trump alongside a Rolex watch and a one-kilogram gold bar, which she said were gifts from Swiss company executives valued at approximately $130,000.

Warren linked this to the trade agreement signed on November 14, under which tariffs on Swiss imports—including luxury watches—were reduced from 39% to 15%.

She described the move as a result of “influence by foreign corporations and wealthy individuals” who, in her view, are now playing a significant role in shaping the Trump administration’s trade policies.

The Democratic senator emphasized that while broad U.S. tariff policies have raised import costs for American families by around 1.5%, luxury goods tariffs have fallen, putting additional pressure on the middle class.

Warren’s criticism is part of a wider wave of protests against the Trump administration’s trade policies, which opponents argue have increased living costs and economic strain on millions of Americans.
