Afghan Futsal Rising Star Joins Iran’s Foolad Zarand

DID Press: Afghanistan’s emerging futsal talent, who recently scored a hat-trick against Tajikistan, has signed an official contract with Iran’s Foolad Zarand, marking the start of his professional career in the Iranian Futsal Premier League.

Sayed Murtaza Hussaini, regarded as one of Afghanistan’s most promising young futsal players, finalized his move to Foolad Zarand following standout performances in recent competitions.

Only two weeks earlier, Hussaini made headlines across regional sports media after netting a remarkable hat-trick against Tajikistan. He is now preparing for his first club experience outside Afghanistan.

Foolad Zarand announced that the paperwork process is underway and that the Afghan international will join the team’s training sessions soon.

Hussaini’s impressive showing in the Islamic Solidarity Cup had drawn interest from several Iranian Premier League clubs, including Gohar Zamin Sirjan, Pardis Qazvin, and Naft-e Bandar Abbas. Foolad Zarand ultimately secured the transfer.

With Hussaini’s arrival, the number of Afghan futsal players competing in Iran’s top league has risen to seven.

Just days earlier, another Afghan national team player, Sayed Hussain Mousavi, joined Shahrdari Saveh — a development highlighting the growing influence of Afghan athletes in Iranian futsal.

Hussaini, considered one of Afghanistan’s key left-footed players alongside Farzad Mahmoudi, has now taken an important step in his professional path, in a move seen as potentially opening a new chapter for the future of Afghan futsal.
