False Regime Change Rumors Made Kabul Residents Uneasy

DID Press: Rumors circulating in some Pakistani media outlets suggesting a possible regime change in Afghanistan have no factual basis, yet their psychological impact on Kabul residents is noticeable, according to Afghan journalist Sami Yousufzai.

Yousufzai, based in Doha, criticized the continued dissemination of these claims, noting that such an event is “almost impossible.” Despite this, the reports have created tension among the public and heightened unnecessary anxiety.

He emphasized that responsible journalism must rely on verified facts rather than speculation, as unfounded claims can undermine public confidence and disrupt the mental well-being of communities.
