DID Press: Afghanistan Weightlifting Federation announced that national athletes will compete in Iran’s prestigious Fajr Cup across multiple weight categories.

The Afghan national weightlifting team departed for Tehran today (Monday, Nov. 24) with a delegation consisting of three athletes and one coach to take part in the international Fajr Cup tournament.
According to the National Weightlifting Federation, team members have undergone several months of intensive training and are now prepared to face strong regional and international opponents.
Federation officials said Afghan weightlifters will compete in several different weight divisions, noting that the main objective of participating in the tournament is to assess the athletes’ technical capabilities and gain international experience.
The Fajr Cup, hosted in Tehran, begins on (Nov. 26) and is recognized annually as one of the most significant weightlifting events in the region.
The federation stated that sending the Afghan team to the competition is part of a broader strategy to increase the country’s participation in official international events and strengthen Afghanistan’s standing in the sport.
Officials expressed hope that the national athletes will deliver strong performances and represent Afghanistan honorably on the international stage.
