New Phase of Restoration Begins on Bamiyan’s Historical Heritage Sites
DID Press: Bamiyan Department of Information and Culture announced that restoration and rehabilitation efforts on several of the province’s most significant historical sites are moving forward with increased momentum.

According to the department, the reconstruction and preservation of key historical and recreational locations in Bamiyan are continuing in a sustained and organized manner.
Officials said work has been underway for several weeks on the restoration of the Shashpul Caravanserai, the ancient city of Gholghola, the Zahak Fortress, and the archaeological site of Kakrak, with technical teams currently implementing various stages of these projects.
Cultural authorities in Bamiyan stated that the objective of the efforts is to protect valuable historical monuments, strengthen the tourism industry, and prevent further deterioration of these heritage structures.
They added that once these projects are completed, the number of domestic and foreign visitors to Bamiyan is expected to rise, creating greater economic opportunities for local communities.
Officials further emphasized that the restoration process will continue with the support of specialized national and international institutions, noting that efforts to safeguard Bamiyan’s cultural identity are ongoing.
