Taliban, India Agree on Joint Trade Chamber to Boost Kabul–Delhi Ties
DID Press: Nuruddin Azizi, Taliban Minister of Industry and Commerce, announced during his official visit to India that the two sides have agreed to establish a joint trade chamber, reactivate a bilateral trade working group, reduce certain customs tariffs, and expand air and land trade corridors. These steps signal a strengthening of economic relations between Kabul and Delhi amid shifting regional geo-economics dynamics.

According to India Today, Azizi confirmed that Afghanistan and India are expanding their economic and commercial cooperation. The proposed joint trade chamber and working group aim to facilitate smoother trade flows and revive bilateral trade mechanisms.
During meetings with India’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Azizi discussed measures to enhance trade via air, land, and maritime routes, including resolving issues at the Nhava Sheva port, easing banking transactions, facilitating commercial and medical visas, introducing trade attachés, promoting joint investment, and organizing bilateral trade exhibitions.
Both sides also agreed to expand air corridors, particularly the Amritsar–Kabul route, and activate the trade and investment working group. Taliban officials described these initiatives as a significant step toward reviving economic ties with India and increasing bilateral trade volumes.
These developments come as Afghanistan’s role in South Asian trade networks and regional connectivity gains renewed attention, with India seeking to maintain and strengthen economic relations with Kabul despite political complexities.
