Bomb Threat Cleared; Flights Resume at Philadelphia Int’l Airport

DID Press: Flights at Philadelphia International Airport were briefly halted Friday evening due to a bomb threat, but the incident was resolved without issue and airport operations returned to normal.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued the flight suspension shortly after 7 p.m. local time, but about 30 minutes later confirmed that the “security incident had been resolved.”

A Philadelphia police spokesperson said the temporary halt was due to “a situation requiring police intervention on one of the aircraft.” After inspections, the plane was cleared for departure and all restrictions were lifted.

Earlier this month, several other U.S. airports experienced similar bomb threats, all of which ended safely. In early November, Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., and a Delta flight from LaGuardia were temporarily halted due to similar threats, but police and FBI checks found no actual danger.
