Iran Offers Free Online Education for Returning Afghan Students
DID Press: Iran has launched a program to provide online education, including full hardware support, for Afghan students returning to their home country, aiming to support the ongoing repatriation process.

Nader Yarahmadi, head of the Center for Foreign Nationals and Migrants Affairs at Iran’s Ministry of Interior, said that Iran is fully prepared to deliver online education services to returning Afghan students.
He added that all hardware costs required for the program will be covered by the Iranian government, and an international organization has also offered to contribute to these expenses, an offer welcomed by Iran.
Yarahmadi highlighted that over 6.1 million Afghan nationals currently reside in Iran as refugees or legal residents. Only about 33,000 live in international camps, while the rest are dispersed across various cities.
Regarding Afghan children’s education, he noted that until last year, around 12% of the Afghan population in Iran were students, representing nearly 16% of Iran’s total student population. He also said that with the construction of new schools and increased capacity, educational gaps will gradually be addressed.
