DID Press: US Department of State announced that more than 85,000 visas have been revoked since Donald Trump returned to the White House—an action the department says reflects explicit directives from President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to enforce stricter immigration policies.

According to Sputnik, the State Department said in a statement posted on X that since the start of Trump’s new presidential term in January, a total of 85,000 visas have been cancelled. The measure is part of the administration’s revised immigration policy, and U.S. officials say the process “will not be halted in the near term.”
“Eighty-five thousand visas revoked since January. President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are following a simple directive and have no intention of stopping,” reads the statement.
Data released by the department indicate that roughly half of the revoked visas were issued to individuals who had violated U.S. laws.
Nearly 8,000 student visas have also been cancelled during this period—an action analysts view as part of the administration’s increasingly hardline approach to domestic security and immigration control.
The newly released figures suggest that the Trump administration’s immigration policies have entered a rapid-acceleration phase, with mass visa cancellations likely to have far-reaching implications for students, migrant workers, and prospective U.S. entrants in the months ahead.
