UN Rapporteur Warns of Taliban Repression against Women, Minorities
DID Press: Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights, has warned of widespread violations against women, girls, and ethnic and religious minorities in Afghanistan, describing the situation as “systematic and deliberate.”

Since the Taliban’s return to power, women and girls have been denied access to education and work, while minority communities have faced targeted repression. Bennett emphasized that human rights are universal and non-negotiable, and the international community must ensure that injustice in Afghanistan does not become normalized.
He called for decisive global action to protect human rights, highlighting the urgent need to support women and minority groups in Afghanistan.
