DID Press: Forces of the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Monday launched a military exercise titled “Just Mission 2025” in areas surrounding Taiwan.
The drills include naval, air and missile operations in the Taiwan Strait as well as in the northern, southwestern, southeastern and eastern areas around the island.
Shi Yi, spokesperson for the PLA’s Eastern Theater Command, said the exercise focuses on missions such as joint sea-air combat readiness patrols, seizure of comprehensive superiority, blockade of ports and key areas, and all-domain deterrence operations beyond the island chain.
“As vessels and aircraft approach Taiwan from multiple directions, various forces are participating in joint strikes to test and enhance their integrated operational capabilities,” Shi said.
He stressed that the drills serve as a serious warning to “Taiwan independence” separatist forces and external interference, describing the exercise as a legitimate and necessary measure to safeguard China’s sovereignty and national unity.
