5 Afghan Journalists Detained in Pakistan
DID Press: Amid non-renewal of Afghan refugee visas, five Afghan journalists reportedly detained in Pakistan, raising concerns about the safety of media professionals in the country.

Afghanistan Media Support Organization (AMSO) reported that in the past two weeks, Pakistani police have arbitrarily detained five Afghan journalists. Among those arrested are Samiul Farogh Faizi and Attaullah Shirzad. AMSO notes that some journalists have opted not to disclose their identities due to serious security threats.
Although all detainees have since been released, AMSO stresses that the unsafe environment for Afghan journalists in Pakistan remains a serious issue.
Additionally, AMSO highlighted that Pakistan is refusing to extend the visas of Afghan refugees, a move that exposes journalists to detention, expulsion, and further dangers.
AMSO has called on the international community, media organizations, and human rights groups to take action to protect Afghan journalists.
