US Lawmakers Slam Redaction of Key Names in Epstein Files

DID Press: Several members of US House of Representatives who recently gained access to unredacted Justice Department files related to Jeffrey Epstein say critical portions of the files remain concealed, with the names of influential individuals still censored.

According to US media reports, a group of lawmakers on Monday was allowed to review unredacted Justice Department documents linked to the Epstein case. Among the first to access the files were Republican Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Democratic Representative Ro Khanna of California. Both, however, stressed that essential information was still withheld from their review.

Ro Khanna said that the names—and even images—of at least six men were fully redacted in the documents, without any explanation provided for the omissions. Thomas Massie voiced similar concerns, saying these individuals likely hold significant legal relevance due to their direct connection to the case.

At the same time, the House Oversight Committee held a closed-door virtual hearing with Ghislaine Maxwell, one of Epstein’s closest associates. Maxwell, who appeared via video link from a prison in Texas, declined to answer questions, invoking her Fifth Amendment right under the US Constitution.

These developments have once again placed questions over the transparency of US judicial institutions and the extent of lawmakers’ access to complete information in the Epstein case at the center of public scrutiny.
