UN-Led Doha Process Convenes Private Sector Working Group in Kabul

DID Press: Third meeting of the Private Sector Working Group under the UN-facilitated Doha Process was held on Tuesday (Feb. 10) in Kabul, hosted by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), with participants attending both in person and online.

According to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs, finance, industry and commerce, economy, labor and social affairs, as well as Da Afghanistan Bank, took part in the meeting. Officials from UNAMA, other relevant United Nations agencies, international and regional organizations, ambassadors, diplomats, and experts from several countries also participated, either physically or virtually.

The meeting was conducted in two sessions. The first focused on economic growth and inclusion, while the second addressed coordination and transparency. During the discussions, representatives of the Taliban-led administration presented what they described as recent developments and achievements in the country.

Participants emphasized the importance of supporting Afghanistan’s private sector and reaffirmed their commitment to continued engagement and cooperation. At the conclusion of the meeting, proposals were put forward to address existing challenges, with a shared call for strengthened coordination among stakeholders.
