DID Press: Spain’s PM Pedro Sánchez called for the creation of a “real European army,” arguing that Europe must urgently strengthen its collective deterrence in the face of growing threats from Russia.

Sánchez said Europe should act in a “coordinated, targeted and controlled” manner to contain Vladimir Putin, stressing that the project should not be postponed to the next decade but launched “now.”
Spain is ready to contribute “whatever resources are necessary” to help build a shared European defense structure, underlining that boosting Europe’s military capabilities should be treated as an immediate strategic priority, he added.
