China Rejects US Claims of Nuclear Tests as Baseless

DID Press: China dismissed allegations by US that Beijing conducted nuclear explosive tests in recent years, calling the claims unfounded and politically motivated.

Liu Pengyu, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, said U.S. officials had distorted China’s nuclear policy and engaged in negative narrative-building against Beijing.

His remarks came in response to statements by Christopher Ee, an assistant secretary at the U.S. State Department for arms control and non-proliferation, who alleged that China had recently carried out nuclear explosive testing.

Liu said the accusations were aimed at advancing U.S. nuclear hegemony and deflecting responsibility for Washington’s own obligations in nuclear disarmament. He stressed that China firmly rejects such narratives and that U.S. claims about Chinese nuclear explosive tests are “completely baseless.”
