The renewal was finalized during a visit by Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, Director General of DABS, to Tehran. In bilateral meetings with Iranian officials, Hamkar discussed not only the contract extension but also plans for developing cross-border transmission infrastructure and expanding technical and engineering cooperation between the two countries.

DABS emphasized that continued electricity imports from Iran will play a key role in meeting Afghanistan’s electricity needs and ensuring a stable energy supply throughout the year.
