Taliban Roll Out Multi-Province Development Drive amid Deepening Economic Strain
DID Press: Taliban authorities say 183 development projects have been completed and put into operation in Parwan province. Local officials say the schemes were implemented in Salang and Shinwari districts at a cost of about 270 million Afghanis and have now been handed over to residents.

Officials from the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said efforts underway on major nationwide infrastructure projects, including Qosh Tepa Canal and Kajaki Dam.
Separately, five development projects were inaugurated at the Aqina customs facility in Faryab province. Authorities put the total cost at around 155 million Afghanis. The projects include new administrative and technical facilities, operational equipment, and service vehicles aimed at improving customs services and boosting state revenues.
Meanwhile, an inter-ministerial committee approved investments for the construction of commercial markets in Sar-e Pol and Jowzjan provinces. The projects expected to create dozens of new retail units and stimulate local trade.
Despite these developments, residents across several provinces continue to complain about shortages of basic services, unemployment, and mounting economic pressure. Analysts stress that financial transparency and independent oversight remain essential to building public trust and ensuring sustainable development.
