$205m Uzbekistan–Afghanistan Trade Deals Sealed in Mazar-e-Sharif
DID Press: Entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan reached preliminary agreements worth $205 million during a joint business forum in Mazar-e-Sharif, aimed at expanding economic cooperation and boosting bilateral trade.

The event was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and brought together more than 150 Afghan entrepreneurs and representatives of over 50 Uzbek companies. Sector-focused sessions covered food processing, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, textiles and agriculture.
At the opening ceremony, representatives of Balkh’s local administration, the Uzbek chamber and the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment underscored the importance of strengthening private-sector ties and facilitating trade links.
According to figures presented, around 400 Uzbek companies participated in similar business events held in Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif in 2025, resulting in contracts worth more than $250 million.
Uzbek trade houses are currently active in the Afghan market. In Kabul, a trade house operates exhibition and warehouse facilities for construction materials and food products, while a similar center in Mazar-i-Sharif supplies construction materials, foodstuffs, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and electrical goods.
Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan reached $1.8 billion by the end of 2025—up 50% from 2024. The newly finalized $205 million preliminary agreements are viewed as another step toward deepening economic ties, expanding exports and scaling up investment capacity between the two countries.
