UN Envoy Condemns Pakistan Airstrikes Killing Afghan Civilians
DID Press: UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, voiced grave concern over recent Pakistani airstrikes on Afghanistan territory that have killed civilians, particularly children.

Bennett urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint, stressing that the protection of civilians must be the foremost priority in any military operation and that all parties are obligated to comply with international law.
“These attacks have had a severe negative impact on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. The killing of children and civilians is unacceptable,” Bennett said, calling on all stakeholders to respect human rights and refrain from escalating violence.
The UN also underscored the need for urgent measures to prevent a recurrence of such strikes and reiterated that all parties are bound by international humanitarian law.
