66,000 Civilians Displaced by Pakistan-Taliban Clashes in Eastern Afghanistan

DID Press: Reports from eastern Afghanistan indicate that intensified airstrikes by Pakistan and ongoing border clashes with Taliban forces have triggered a new wave of forced displacement. The unrest has primarily affected areas along the Durand Line in eastern provinces that have long experienced cross-border tensions.

The continuing aerial attacks and skirmishes between Taliban forces and Pakistani militias have forced approximately 66,000 residents of Paktia, Paktika, Nangarhar, Kunar, and Khost to flee their homes, seeking safety in neighboring districts or within their own provinces.

Local sources report that the fear of renewed airstrikes has driven families to leave their homes at night, often without basic necessities. Humanitarian infrastructure and local response capacity remain limited, raising urgent concerns over the well-being and safety of the displaced population.
