Clashes Escalate Along Afghanistan–Pakistan Border

DID Press: Fresh reports from eastern Afghanistan indicate that Afghan defensive forces have targeted and completely destroyed a Pakistani militia outpost in the Goshta district of Nangarhar province.

Mawlawi Wahidullah Mohammadi, spokesman for the 201st Khalid bin Walid Army Corps, said the post was struck with heavy weaponry, including an SPG-9 recoilless gun, confirming its total destruction. According to him, the operation was carried out in response to repeated movements and firing from the Pakistani side.

Local sources in Nangarhar Province reported that military activity along the disputed frontier has significantly increased since last night. Reports suggest that Pakistani forces have established several new outposts along the border. In some areas, sporadic exchanges of fire have taken place, while residents said they heard artillery and heavy weapons fire during late-night hours.

A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: “Since last night, Pakistani forces attempted several times to reposition in sensitive border areas, but they were met with a rapid response from our forces.”

Based on developments over the past 24 hours, the eastern border of Afghanistan appears to have entered a new phase of tension. Analysts warn that any further escalation could carry serious security and humanitarian consequences. Continued exchanges of fire could increase the risk of broader clashes, and without direct dialogue or joint border mechanisms, prospects for de-escalation remain limited.

At present, Taliban defensive forces remain on high alert, and reports indicate the situation along the frontier in Nangarhar Province remains fragile and subject to rapid change.
