Pakistani Strikes May Reshape Taliban’s Internal Debates, Afghan Journalist Warns
DID Press: Afghan journalist Sami Yousufzai has suggested that recent Pakistani attacks along the Afghanistan border may influence internal Taliban discussions regarding potential policy changes.

In a post on X, Yousufzai analyzed the political implications of the cross-border strikes. Citing information from UN sources in Kabul and other international organizations, he reported that senior Taliban officials were planning to meet with Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada to voice concerns over some government decisions.
These officials intended to raise alarms about rising domestic dissatisfaction and Afghanistan’s increasing international isolation. Yousufzai noted that Pakistan’s attacks coinciding with this period may indirectly affect the Taliban’s internal debates on reforms.
He also warned that ongoing military tensions along the border could have broader political and security consequences for Afghanistan.
