Taliban Assess Torkham Market Damage, Promise Aid to Traders
DID Press: Authorities from the Taliban administration have completed an initial assessment of damage to shops and commercial markets in the border town of Torkham following fires reportedly triggered by attacks by Pakistani forces.

Local officials in Nangarhar Province said a government delegation was dispatched to evaluate losses after several shops and a commercial market were burned, causing significant financial damage to traders.
Preliminary estimates place the losses at around 300 million Afghanis, with multiple stores and one market reportedly completely destroyed.
The assessment team was formed on the order of Mawlawi Mohammad Naeem, governor of Nangarhar, and was led by Mawlawi Shahid Noorani, head of the provincial governor’s office.
According to the Nangarhar governor’s press office, the delegation met with shopkeepers and market owners in Torkham to collect detailed information about the damage.
Officials said the findings will be sent to authorities in Kabul, where decisions will be made on financial assistance and support for affected traders.
