Taliban Extends Vehicle Tax Breaks, Upgrades Customs Infrastructure

DID Press: Taliban government held its 16th cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, addressing key economic, security, social, and cultural matters.

During the session, the cabinet decided to extend the customs duty discount for “one-key” vehicles entering Afghanistan through the end of 1405 AH, maintaining the previous rate. Officials said the move aims to better regulate the market, support importers, and facilitate vehicle entry. The Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office was also tasked with coordinating with relevant agencies and investors to ensure transparency, quantity, and quality in import procedures.

Separately, the Ministry of Finance announced the purchase of eight new cranes worth over $1.45 million for six major customs points. Each crane, manufactured in 2025, can lift up to 25 tons. The equipment will be deployed at customs offices in Balkh, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Nimruz, Herat, and Farah to expedite loading and unloading operations and enhance convenience for traders.
