DID Press: Professor John Mearsheimer bluntly stated that the US would not succeed in a military conflict with Iran.
“We are sending the message that we are a bunch of fools,” he said, criticizing U.S. readiness for a war it cannot win. “We started a conflict without the military forces required to achieve any of our stated objectives—and without any plan.”
Mearsheimer warned that such missteps signal weakness not only to Iran, but also to global powers like China and Russia. “It tells them we are incompetent,” he said. He added that Russia, having dealt with figures like Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, already understands the extent of U.S. ineffectiveness.
