Turkey Welcomes Taliban-Pakistan Eid Truce

DID Press: Turkey’s foreign ministry welcomed a temporary ceasefire between the Taliban and Pakistan during Eid al-Fitr. In an official statement, Ankara expressed hope the truce would be respected and pave the way for a process leading to lasting peace and prosperity for the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Taliban and Pakistan announced on Wednesday that, at the request of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, they would temporarily halt cross-border clashes. Both sides stressed, however, that they would respond to any threats or attacks by the other party.
