Former Pakistani Envoy Warns Truce with Kabul Hinges on Action Against TTP
DID Press: Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s former special representative for Afghanistan, warned that the current ceasefire between Kabul and Islamabad will not hold unless concrete measures are taken against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

In a post on X, Durrani stated that the suspension of hostilities could evolve into a lasting ceasefire if Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities implement a set of clear and practical actions.
He stressed that the first step should be the formal confirmation and enforcement of a directive attributed to Hibatullah Akhundzada banning jihad inside Pakistan. According to Durrani, the order must be applied across all levels of the Taliban structure rather than remain symbolic.
The former envoy also called for the disarmament of TTP members operating inside Afghanistan, warning that the current situation undermines state authority and threatens regional stability. He further urged authorities to halt fundraising activities by TTP affiliates, particularly through mosques and informal religious networks, and to prevent militant leaders from using Afghan territory to plan or launch attacks against Pakistan.
