Sanders: Americans Face Economic Strain, Don’t Support War with Iran

DID Press: Bernie Sanders criticized the US government’s military policies, emphasizing that economic pressures are the top concern for Americans. Speaking to CNN, Sanders stated he will “under no circumstances” support the administration’s request for roughly $200 billion in funding for potential military action against Iran.

He highlighted the domestic economic challenges, noting rising gasoline prices and the financial strain on families due to high housing, healthcare, and food costs. Sanders warned that continued U.S. and Israel military actions are exacerbating tensions and suffering in the Middle East, with far-reaching humanitarian and economic consequences.

The senator also urged an immediate halt to weapons shipments to Israel, stressing that America should prioritize de-escalation and regional stability over expanding conflicts. Citing domestic political sentiment, Sanders said citizens across party lines are reluctant to fund foreign wars, and the government’s focus should instead be on addressing internal economic challenges and improving living conditions for U.S. families.
