Canada, France Warn Israel Against Military Moves in Southern Lebanon
DID Press: Canada and France have strongly warned Israel over its reported plans to occupy southern Lebanon, urging restraint and respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty amid signs of a potential large-scale ground offensive.

Canada’s Global Affairs Ministry condemned Israel’s plans as a serious violation of Lebanese territorial integrity and called on all parties to protect civilians, infrastructure, medical personnel, and peacekeepers under international law.
Jean-Noël Barrot echoed the warning, stating that any Israeli ground operation could escalate the humanitarian crisis and worsen the situation in the region.
Reports indicate that Israel intends to control areas up to the Litani River, about 30 km from the border, with some officials even hinting at annexation. Airstrikes continue across southern, eastern, and Beirut regions, resulting in over 1,000 deaths, nearly 3,000 injuries, and more than one million displaced.
The ongoing destruction of critical infrastructure and residential areas is raising fears of a widening regional conflict.
