DID Press: Kim Jong Un formally welcomed Alexander Lukashenko during an official ceremony in Kim Il Sung Square, signaling renewed efforts to strengthen legal frameworks and broaden bilateral cooperation between North Korea and Belarus.

The welcome ceremony featured the national anthems of both countries, ceremonial artillery salutes, and the presence of mounted units and honor guards. Delegations from both governments later held discussions aimed at expanding diplomatic and economic coordination.
During the visit, Lukashenko accompanied Kim to the Liberation Monument, where he laid a wreath honoring Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of Korea from Japanese rule. The gesture underscored the historical ties linking regional wartime alliances to present-day diplomatic relations.
Officials stated that existing legal agreements between Minsk and Pyongyang cover areas such as trade, economic cooperation, investment, and the avoidance of double taxation. Both sides expressed expectations that the visit would further accelerate economic and political engagement.
The meeting follows an earlier encounter between the two leaders in September 2025 in Beijing, where Kim extended a formal invitation for Lukashenko to visit Pyongyang. In recent years, bilateral cooperation has expanded into sectors including agriculture, healthcare, education, culture, and trade.
Belarus has also signaled readiness to participate in trilateral initiatives involving partners such as Russia and China, both of which maintain longstanding economic and diplomatic engagement with North Korea.
