Pakistani Students in Afghanistan Demand Reopening of Torkham Border

DID Press: Pakistani students studying in Afghanistan have urged Islamabad to reopen the Torkham border crossing so they can return home after the winter break.

Reports indicate that many students cannot afford plane tickets and prefer to use the land route to continue their studies in Pakistan.

The Torkham crossing was temporarily opened Thursday for the deportation of Afghan nationals, but it was closed again after a sniper fired at Pakistani border forces, wounding one officer.
