Herat Merchants Donate 15M Afghanis to Support Iran Amid Crisis

DID Press: Local officials in Herat announced that a group of merchants in the province has raised 15 million Afghanis in humanitarian aid for the people of Iran, delivering the funds to the Iranian political representation in Herat.

Mohammad Younus Qazizadeh stated that the contributions came from private sector merchants and were handed over to the Iranian consulate on Saturday. He emphasized that the initiative aims to express solidarity with the Iranian people during the current difficult circumstances, and efforts to mobilize further aid are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Alireza Marhamati praised the initiative and highlighted the willingness of various groups in Herat to assist in rebuilding schools and healthcare centers in Iran. He also confirmed that trade between the two countries continues as usual.

Separately, Abbas Araghchi acknowledged the Afghan authorities for their assistance in facilitating the return of Iranian citizens who were stranded abroad, noting that a group of Iranians previously stuck in the UAE were first brought to Herat before returning to Iran via land border crossings.
