DID Press: Dmitry Medvedev, responding to the recent agreement between Iran and the United States, stated that in the conflict and tensions between the two nations, “rationality” ultimately prevailed over the provocative rhetoric from the White House.

Medvedev emphasized that Donald Trump’s agreement to consider Iran’s ten-point peace plan represents a major success for Tehran, adding that Trump neither wants nor can sustain a prolonged conflict with Iran.
He also warned that the United States must maintain the fragile ceasefire with Iran, as any misstep could escalate the situation toward a highly unstable scenario, likened by him to “Zugzwang.”
Continuing, Medvedev noted that due to developments in the Middle East, cheap oil will no longer be available in global markets, and Europe will face an extended period of economic austerity.
