Nearly 4,000 Afghan Migrants Expelled Forcefully from Pakistan in One Day

DID Press: High Commission for Addressing Migrants’ Issues of the Taliban administration says thousands of Afghan migrants have crossed into Afghanistan amid an ongoing deportation campaign by Pakistan.

According to the commission, 3,859 Afghan migrants were expelled from Pakistan in a single day, continuing a growing wave of forced returns.

The deportees entered Afghanistan through the Torkham Border Crossing and the Spin Boldak Border Crossing.

Officials say the deportation process has accelerated in recent days, with many families reportedly transferred to the border without sufficient time to collect their belongings.

Reports indicate that many returnees are facing immediate humanitarian challenges, including lack of shelter, limited access to basic services, and urgent need for assistance upon arrival.

Pakistan has intensified its crackdown under its “Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan,” leading to arrests and removals of Afghan nationals across multiple cities, particularly after the expiry of residence permits such as PoR and ACC cards.

International organizations and human rights groups have warned that forced returns—especially of women and children—could expose them to serious security, economic, and social risks in Afghanistan. They have called for adherence to international law and stronger consideration of humanitarian conditions.

In recent weeks, reports have also highlighted increased security pressure, arrests, and closures of Afghan migrant camps in various parts of Pakistan, further worsening the situation for displaced Afghan communities.
